Monday 19th to Saturday 24th July - Time Cheam Project - Europa Gallery Sutton Central Library.

Cheam has been known as a source of medieval pottery since 1923 when C J Marshall excavated a kiln and waster pottery at Parkside. The Parkside kiln was published in 1924.

Excavations in 1978-80 in the garden of Whitehall revealed large quantities of pottery and kiln fragments, this material remains unstudied and unpublished

The aim of the Time Cheam Project is to study, archive and publish the pottery from Whitehall and volunteers are needed to catalogue the pottery to Museum of London standards. Training will be given on day one.

If you would like to make your contribution to the study of Cheam's medieval potters and learn about medieval pottery
